A few things I've noticed the last few days

A few things I've noticed the last few days out on the trails.
Tuesday was a cold, humid day when I burst out of the door to head to the trail head.
The clouds were dark and heavy with the wind intermittent.
I hit a few patches of wind and rain on the way to Hartman's, but I was determined to get a ride in before it snowed.
When I hit the top of the trail the wind was turning cold. It was the first day I left my knee warmers, arm warmer and vest on for the whole ride.
My legs weren't feeling to good so I decided that a solid constant pedalling route was best. I got to the highest point in the ride and could see out towards Crested Butte, but could only see hanging dark clouds and a few peaks with a dusting of snow. The rain was sparse and I headed for the area under lighter skies. Here the wind and rain were less. I stayed around this area. As I headed down a trail and thinking about random things, I noticed a rainbow ahead. It looked closed enough that I could ride to the end, but I stuck to my plan and followed the lighter spot in the clouds until my time was up.
I headed back towards the trail head as the light spot closed in with the darker clouds.
The rain spit and wind blew, but as I headed out of the recreation area the rain stopped and the wind blew from behind. What more can you ask for with tired legs and time limit to get home. A little push from behind was just perfect.

Today I tired to hike/run/walk. My ankle is healing nicely, but patience is low sometimes.
I wore the typical ankle brace for support. My run portion is more like fast walking but I feel good that I can call it running and it resembles something like running. I like mountain biking, but I will always be a runner at heart. When I reached the top of the trail and could see the mountains in nearly all directions one thing stuck with me.  Under the rain like clouds I could see a nearby mountain. The landscape was like a layer cake. There was the silvery sage on the bottom with bits of yellow here and there. Then there was another distinct layer of dark blue mountain mixed with traditional fall colors in patches. The top layer was white, like thick powered sugar. I like the scenery from here as there are so many different looks to the landscape depending on the season and the day. That is what I like about here.
